Anney’s Closet is a project of Soroptimist International Victoria Westshore.

Our club is comprised of women of all ages,  who bring with them a wealth of experience and interests. We belong to a worldwide organization of women working to improve the lives of girls and women in local communities and around the world.

The word  “soroptimist” means “Best for women” and that is the value that we follow in all of our work, including community micro-loans, our annual Imagining Possibilities Conference for Young Women, local Live Your Dream Awards and service projects like Anney’s Closet.

The Imagining Possibilities Conference for Young Womenimagining-possibilies

With so many choices to make, obstacles to face, uncertainty about the future, the world sure seems like a big scary place. That’s why the Soroptimists of Victoria Westshore put together the Imagining Possibilities Conference for girls. It’s an initiative that helps to promote self-awareness, confidence and the opportunity to learn from women in the workforce in a one-on-one atmosphere.

Research by Soroptimist International of the Americas (SIA) has shown that girls need access to mentors and trusted adults who can share knowledge and information about how they can pursue their dreams.
For more information about what the day includes, and workshop choices visit the Imagining Possibilities page here.

The Soroptimist Live Your Dream Awards assists women who provide the primary source of financial support for their families by giving them the resources they need to improve their education, skills and employment prospects.

Each year, more than $1.6 million in education grants are awarded to more than 1,200 women, many of whom have overcome enormous obstacles including poverty, domestic violence and/or drug and alcohol abuse. Live Your Dream Awards recipients may use the cash award to offset any costs associated with their efforts to attain higher education, such as books, childcare, tuition and transportation.
